I do not want to “face” each day. I want to live it.
I want to observe it carefully. Examine it up close. Feel it every moment.
I recently came across someone’s post on Facebook with a picture similar to this with a caption “This is how I wake up each morning, excited to face the day! :)”.
While it’s a great post it makes me wonder whether we need to remove the word “face” from our vocabulary in that context.
It makes it sound like the day is the enemy and we’ve got to find courage and strength to “face” it. But why does the day need to be so hard? Is life meant to be hard? Do we really need to brace ourselves to look at it in the eye each day?
Life is meant to be easy and simple. Let’s stop complicating it and thus feeling the need to “tackle” it. Let’s tune into its softness and look forward to each day as if it’s our birthday. Yes, have the mindset of the jumping person but remove all vocabulary that insists otherwise.
